6 St. Patrick’s Day Recipes To Make At Home

While one of the best parts of any holiday is the food, St. Patrick’s Day has its own selection of treats that will be sure to satisfy your taste buds and get you into the Irish spirit. If you do not feel like going out this St. Patrick’s Day, embrace your inner chef and make a homemade meal at home with the ones you love! You do not have to be Irish to enjoy these because as they say “everybody is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day!” Here are 6 food items you can whip together this weekend!

1. Corned beef/Ham and cabbage

This is one of the most famous meals cooked on St. Patrick’s Day. While the tradition is to make Corned Beef with cabbage, some people substitute it with Ham. Throw it in the crockpot in the morning, let it sit, and voila– you have a delicious, traditional Irish meal.

Ingredients

3-4lbs corned beef brisket*
– 6 potatoes (peeled & quartered)
– 4-6 medium carrots (peeled & cut into 3-4 pieces)
– 1 medium onion (cut into 4-8 wedges)
– 1 head cabbage (cut into 6-8 wedges)
– 1 (12oz) bottle of Guinness
– 1-2 garlic cloves, minced
– 1 bay leaf
– 2 T brown sugar + dash of cloves mixed on meat

2. Irish Potato Candy

The infamous Irish Potatoes are an Irish delicacy that originated in Philadelphia. If you are not familiar with these, do not worry! Not only are they delicious, but they are quick and easy to make and especially fun to do with children! Why not try something new this St. Patrick’s Day?!

Ingredients

1/4 cup butter, softened
4 ounces cream cheese, softened (1/2 package)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups powdered sugar
2 1/2 cups sweetened flaked coconut
1 – 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon

1/2 cup whole milk.
10 drops green food coloring.
1 teaspoon peppermint extract
